Shanghai will rebuild over 30000 elevators

The revised <Special Equipment Safety Supervision Ordinance> have been executed since May, 1st, 2009. As the fact that shanghai is one of the top city which have the largest amount of elevators, shanghai already adopted vigorous measures to find the space for elevator energy-saving, planed to research and develop and extend the elevator energy-saving technologies. They will use three ways and three stages to rebuild all over the 30,000 elevators in shanghai. It may save more than 280 millions watt as expected and it is almost 25% of shanghai’s electricity.
The three ways as below: one, popularize to use the variable-frequence voltage technique for dragging, this method is changing the power’s frequency to influence the asynchronous motor speed; two, the independent control elevator reconstruct to parallel control, it can make escalator stops working when no passengers on; three, spread the energy-saving device.
According to the arrangement, the first stage is rebuilding the over 20 thousand non-frequency control elevators step by step. Second, devote major efforts to spread installing the energy-saving device. Third, to reconstruct the 40% escalators and moving pavement with “dormancy” function according to the place and passenger flow.
